Welcome to the Talk Parrot platform. The Talk Parrot (趣学鹦) platform ("Talk Parrot") is operated by Beijing Kuyu Times Education Technology Co., Ltd. Talk Parrot treats every user's privacy with the utmost respect and protection. We have formulated this Privacy Policy in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China, the Information Security Technology – Personal Information Security Specification (GB/T 35273), and other relevant laws, regulations, and technical standards. It sets out the principles for collecting, using, and providing personal information to others, as well as your rights with respect to your personal information.
This Policy applies to all of our products and services (including but not limited to all courses within the Talk Parrot app). This Policy is closely related to the products and/or services you use. When you download, install, launch, browse, register, log in to, or use Talk Parrot's products and/or services, we will process and protect your personal information in accordance with this Policy. We will try to explain the technical terms involved in this Policy in concise language for ease of understanding.
When you use Talk Parrot's products and/or services, Talk Parrot may collect and use your relevant information. Through this Privacy Policy, we explain how Talk Parrot obtains, uses, shares, stores, and manages this information. Please read carefully and fully understand this Policy (especially the content in bold) before using/continuing to use our products and services, and make appropriate choices as guided by this Policy where needed. If you do not agree with the content of this Policy, our products and/or services may be unable to operate normally or achieve the intended service results, and you should immediately stop accessing/using our products and/or services. Your use or continued use of the products and/or services we provide indicates that you fully understand and agree to the entire content of this Privacy Policy (including updated versions).
This Privacy Policy will help you understand the following:
Personal information means all kinds of information recorded electronically or otherwise that can, alone or in combination with other information, identify a specific natural person or reflect the activities of a specific natural person, such as name, date of birth, ID document number, personal biometric information, address, contact information, communication records and content, account passwords, property information, whereabouts, and transaction information.
Sensitive personal information means personal information that, once leaked, unlawfully provided, or misused, may endanger personal and property safety and can easily lead to damage to personal reputation, physical and mental health, or discriminatory treatment, such as personal property information, personal health and physiological information, personal biometric information, personal identity information, and online identity information.
1.1.1 To use Talk Parrot's products and/or services, you first need to register an account and log in. You can create a Talk Parrot account and log in via phone number with SMS verification code, or via Google account authorization (Google Sign-In).
1.1.1.1 If you choose phone-number login, you need to provide us with your mobile phone number. We collect this information to identify and verify you. It also helps Talk Parrot bind your phone number to your Talk Parrot account so that data under the account can sync across devices. If you refuse to provide your phone number, you will be unable to log in with a phone number or sync data by phone number.
1.1.1.2 When you choose to log in to Talk Parrot products and/or services via a Google account, you agree that we obtain the information you have authorized Google to share (such as nickname, avatar, and email address), and you agree to bind your Google account to your Talk Parrot account so that you can log in and use Talk Parrot's products and/or services directly via your Google account. We will use the personal information you authorize for sharing in accordance with our agreements with the third party and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. If you refuse authorization, you will be unable to register and log in via a Google account.
1.1.1.3 After registration, you can fill in or modify your nickname and avatar, and choose learning preferences such as grade, textbook edition, and AI study-partner character (not filling in some of this information does not affect your use of Talk Parrot's basic features, but you may not receive content recommendations matched to your learning stage). This information belongs to your account information, and Talk Parrot will protect it in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1.1.1.4 When you purchase paid products and/or services provided by Talk Parrot (such as the membership service), to help you complete the transaction smoothly, safeguard transaction security, and enable order inquiries, we collect your transaction product/service information, order number, transaction amount, and payment method. Payment is completed via the Google Play billing service (Google Play Billing); we do not collect your payment account credentials.
1.1.2 When using Talk Parrot's products and/or services, you may contact Talk Parrot customer service about account management, product usage, and similar issues. For this you may need to provide Talk Parrot with information related to your use of Talk Parrot's products and/or services, such as your name, phone number, purchase records, payment records, and the records and content of your communications with Talk Parrot, so that Talk Parrot's customer-service staff can contact you and help resolve the issue. If you refuse to provide this information, Talk Parrot may be unable to help you resolve the issue.
1.1.3 Cambridge English exam registration information (including sensitive personal information). When you actively use the exam registration feature and fill in the registration form, in order to complete registration with the exam organizer, arrange exam venues, and verify identity, we collect the candidate name, English name (surname/given name), gender, date of birth, ID document type, ID document number, phone number, email address, mailing address, exam level, and remarks that you provide.
1.1.3.1 The ID document number is sensitive personal information under the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China. The necessity of collecting it is that the exam organizer must verify the candidate's identity, create the candidate file, and issue score certificates based on the ID number; without it, registration cannot be completed. The possible impact on your rights and interests is that if this information is leaked or used unlawfully, the risk of identity misuse may increase. We protect this information with measures such as encrypted transmission and access controls, and provide it only to the exam organizer and its designated test centers within the scope necessary for registration.
1.1.3.2 The above information is collected only when you use the exam registration feature. If you do not use this feature, we do not collect it; not providing this information does not affect your use of Talk Parrot's other features.
When you use Talk Parrot's products and/or services, Talk Parrot collects information about the devices you use, to provide you with continuous and stable service support (such as real-time data sync) and to help Talk Parrot keep improving its products and/or services. The device information Talk Parrot collects includes device name, device model, operating system and application version, language settings, screen resolution, login IP address, network access method, network quality data, carrier information, and log information (such as operation logs and service logs).
1.3.1 To enable the relevant features, Talk Parrot may collect the following personal information by requesting device permissions. If you do not agree to grant a permission, you will be unable to use the corresponding feature, but this does not affect your use of Talk Parrot's other features.
1.3.2 Microphone permission: used for recording in features such as read-aloud practice, speaking assessment, and voice conversation. Your recordings are uploaded to Talk Parrot's servers for pronunciation assessment and to generate study records and scores.
1.3.3 Camera permission: used to take photos when changing your avatar, and to photograph essays for upload and correction in writing practice.
1.3.4 Photo library permission: used to choose an image from your photo library when changing your avatar.
1.3.5 You can revoke authorization at any time by turning off the corresponding permission in your device's system settings. The way permissions are displayed and turned off may differ across devices; please refer to the instructions of the device and system developer.
1.3.6 To provide features such as leaderboards and learning reports, Talk Parrot may display your nickname, avatar, and learning scores in the relevant features for other users to view.
1.3.7 To recommend suitable products and/or services to you and to perform the agreements between the parties, Talk Parrot collects your browsing records, usage records, click records, and learning data within Talk Parrot's products and/or services.
To enable Google account login, Google Play billing, resource file storage, and statistical analysis and crash diagnostics, our app embeds software development kits (SDKs) from authorized partners or integrates third-party services. The names and providers of these third parties, and the purposes and categories of personal information they collect, are as follows:
Google Play services and Google Sign-In (Google LLC): used to enable Google account authorization login and in-app payments. They may collect your device identifiers and network status information. See the Google Privacy Policy for details.
Qiniu Cloud (Shanghai Qiniu Information Technology Co., Ltd.): used to store resource files such as recordings and images generated in the app. See the Qiniu Cloud privacy policy for details.
Firebase SDK (Google LLC, including Analytics and Crashlytics): used for statistical analysis and crash diagnostics, helping us understand product usage and locate anomalies such as crashes and freezes. It may collect your device information (device model, operating system version, application instance identifiers, IP address), network status information, and application crash and performance logs. We have disabled collection of the advertising identifier (AD_ID) and advertising personalization signals. See the Google Privacy Policy and the Firebase Terms of Service for details. Before you agree to this Policy, this SDK does not collect any device information and does not report data to its servers.
The payment service above is provided by a third party other than Talk Parrot (Google Play); Talk Parrot does not obtain information such as your payment password. To learn the specific rules under which third-party service providers collect personal information, please review the relevant third party's privacy policy. Third-party service providers have their own privacy policies, which are not governed by this Privacy Policy. Talk Parrot will make reasonable efforts to require third-party service providers to comply with relevant laws and regulations when processing your personal information, and to adopt relevant confidentiality and security measures.
1.5 You fully acknowledge that in the following circumstances, we may collect and use personal information without your authorization or consent:
1.5.1 where related to national security or national defense security;
1.5.2 where related to public safety, public health, or major public interests;
1.5.3 where related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, or enforcement of judgments;
1.5.4 where it is difficult to obtain your consent but necessary to protect major lawful rights and interests, such as the life or property, of you or other individuals;
1.5.5 where the personal information collected has been disclosed to the public by you on your own initiative;
1.5.6 where your personal information is collected from lawfully and publicly disclosed information, such as lawful news reports or government information disclosure;
1.5.7 where necessary for concluding and performing a contract at your request;
1.5.8 where necessary to maintain the secure and stable operation of the products and/or services provided, such as discovering and handling faults in the products and/or services;
1.5.9 other circumstances prescribed by laws and regulations.
1.6 In accordance with the law, providing de-identified personal information to third parties, where the data recipient cannot restore it and re-identify the personal information subject, does not constitute external sharing, transfer, or public disclosure of personal information; the storage and processing of such data does not require separate notice to you or your consent.
After collecting your personal information, Talk Parrot will use it according to the following rules:
2.1 We will use the collected personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and to realize the features of Talk Parrot's products and/or services.
2.2 Please note that for all personal information you provide when using Talk Parrot's products and/or services, unless you delete it or refuse our collection through the relevant settings, you continuously authorize us to use it during your use of the products and/or services and before account deletion. When you delete your account, Talk Parrot will stop using and delete your personal information.
2.3 Talk Parrot compiles statistics on the usage of its products and/or services and may share these statistics with the public or third parties to show overall usage trends of Talk Parrot's products and/or services. These statistics do not contain any information that identifies you.
2.4 When Talk Parrot intends to use your personal information for purposes not stated in this Policy, or to use information collected for a specific purpose for other purposes, Talk Parrot will proactively seek your express consent in advance.
3.1 Talk Parrot strictly complies with relevant laws and regulations and keeps your personal information confidential. We do not share your personal information with others except in the following circumstances:
3.1.1 with your prior express consent or authorization;
3.1.2 as required by applicable laws and regulations, or by mandatory requirements of judicial or administrative authorities;
3.1.3 to the extent permitted by laws and regulations, where necessary to protect the lawful rights and interests, such as life or property, of you, other Talk Parrot users, or other individuals, or the public interest;
3.1.4 providing your information at the lawful request of your guardian;
3.1.5 providing information in accordance with the relevant agreements signed with you (including electronic agreements signed online and corresponding platform rules) or other legal documents;
3.1.6 sharing with third parties as described in this Privacy Policy;
3.1.7 when you use the exam registration feature, we provide the information you fill in on the registration form (including the ID document number) to the exam organizer for the level you register for and its designated test centers, for registration, venue arrangement, identity verification, and issuance of score certificates. If you do not use the registration feature, this sharing does not occur;
3.1.8 Talk Parrot may, based on your corresponding authorization, share your personal information with affiliates of the operating company. Talk Parrot will only share necessary personal information, subject to the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy. If Talk Parrot's affiliates intend to change the purpose of processing personal information, they will seek your express consent again in due course.
3.2 For companies, organizations, and individuals with whom Talk Parrot shares personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to require them to comply with relevant laws and regulations when processing your personal information, and to adopt relevant confidentiality and security measures to safeguard your personal information.
3.3 Talk Parrot will not transfer your personal information to any company, organization, or individual, except:
3.3.1 with your prior express consent or authorization;
3.3.2 where provision is required by applicable laws and regulations, legal procedures, or mandatory administrative or judicial requirements;
3.3.3 where provision is made in accordance with the relevant agreements signed with you (including electronic agreements signed online and corresponding platform rules) or other legal documents;
3.3.4 in the event of major changes such as acquisition, merger, bankruptcy liquidation, or reorganization involving the transfer of personal information, Talk Parrot will require the new company or organization holding your personal information to continue to perform the responsibilities and obligations under this Privacy Policy. If the changed entity needs to change the purpose of using personal information, we will require it to obtain your express consent in advance.
3.4 Talk Parrot will publicly disclose your personal information only in the following circumstances and with security measures that meet industry standards:
3.4.1 at your request, disclosing the personal information you specify, in a disclosure manner you have expressly agreed to;
3.4.2 where required by laws, regulations, or mandatory requirements of administrative or judicial authorities, we may publicly disclose your personal information. When Talk Parrot receives such a disclosure request, it will require the requester to produce the relevant legal documents, such as a subpoena or letter of assistance in investigation, as required by law. Talk Parrot carefully reviews every disclosure request to ensure it complies with relevant legal provisions. Where permitted by laws and regulations, Talk Parrot will apply measures such as encryption to documents containing the disclosed information.
4.1 Talk Parrot attaches great importance to personal information security and takes all reasonably practicable measures to continuously protect your personal information against unauthorized access, tampering, or disclosure:
4.1.1 Talk Parrot has adopted industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, public disclosure, use, modification, damage, or loss. For example, SSL encryption is used when exchanging data between your mobile device and Talk Parrot's products and/or services; we use trusted protection mechanisms to guard against malicious attacks.
4.1.2 Talk Parrot allows only personnel who need to know to access the relevant personal information, with strict access controls and monitoring mechanisms in place. Talk Parrot also requires all personnel who may come into contact with your personal information to observe corresponding confidentiality obligations. Failure to fulfill these obligations may result in legal liability or termination of the relevant legal relationship with Talk Parrot.
4.2 Talk Parrot takes all reasonably practicable measures to ensure that no irrelevant information is collected.
4.3 You understand that due to technical limitations and possible malicious means, in the Internet industry, even with our best efforts to strengthen security measures, it is impossible to always guarantee one-hundred-percent security of information. You need to understand that the systems and communication networks you use to access Talk Parrot's products and/or services may encounter problems due to factors beyond our control; in such cases, we will do our best to assist in resolving them in accordance with the law.
4.4 In the unfortunate event of an information security incident, we will, as required by laws and regulations, promptly inform you of: the basic circumstances and possible impact of the incident, the measures we have taken or will take, suggestions for you to mitigate and reduce risks on your own, and so on. We will inform you of the incident by email, letter, phone call, push notification, or other suitable means; where it is difficult to inform each subject individually, we will publish announcements in a reasonable and effective manner. We will also proactively report the handling of information security incidents as required by regulatory authorities.
5.1 Talk Parrot stores users' personal information for as long as they use Talk Parrot's products and/or services.
5.2 Talk Parrot undertakes to always store your personal information for a reasonable and necessary period as prescribed by law. Log information, backup records, and similar information are retained for 180 days after you delete your account (or, where the law requires a minimum retention period, for the minimum period required by law); transaction information is retained for three years from the transaction completion date or 180 days after account deletion, whichever is longer. After these periods, we delete or anonymize the relevant information.
5.3 Your account, learning records, recordings, photos, and other service data are stored on servers located within the People's Republic of China.
5.4 To enable analytics, crash reporting, and Google account sign-in, certain device information is processed by Google LLC on servers located outside of China (see the third-party SDK section in Chapter 1); other than this, we do not provide your personal information overseas.
Talk Parrot fully respects your rights over your own personal information. We safeguard your rights to access, correct, delete, and manage your personal information.
6.1 Except as otherwise provided by laws and regulations, you have the right of data access. If you find errors in the personal information we process about you, or have other needs for modification or supplementation, you also have the right to ask us to correct it, or to correct it yourself. To access or modify your account information (including avatar and nickname), tap the edit button next to your nickname on the "Me" page; learning preferences such as grade and textbook edition can be changed at any time on the corresponding selection pages.
6.2 You have the right to know the identity or types of third parties that obtain your personal information through Talk Parrot. You can learn about them in Chapters 1 and 3 of this Policy.
6.3 You may request that Talk Parrot delete your personal information in the following circumstances:
6.3.1 if Talk Parrot's processing of personal information violates relevant laws and regulations;
6.3.2 if Talk Parrot collects or uses your personal information without your consent;
6.3.3 if Talk Parrot's processing of personal information violates its agreement with you or legal provisions;
6.3.4 if you no longer use Talk Parrot's products and/or services, or you have deleted the relevant account;
6.3.5 if Talk Parrot no longer provides products and/or services to you.
6.4 You have the right to withdraw the authorization you previously granted Talk Parrot to collect and use your personal information (for example, by turning off the microphone, camera, or photo-library permission in system settings). After you withdraw consent, we will no longer process the relevant personal information. Your decision to withdraw consent does not affect the personal-information processing carried out based on your authorization before the withdrawal.
6.5 You can delete your account directly via "Me – Settings – Delete Account" in the app, or apply for deletion through the "Me – Feedback" page or the contact information in Chapter 9 of this Policy. You acknowledge and understand that account deletion is irreversible. After you delete your account, we will stop providing you with products or services and delete or anonymize your relevant information, except as otherwise provided by laws, regulations, and relevant national standards.
6.6 If you have any questions about the methods described above for accessing, correcting, or deleting your personal information, withdrawing consent, or deleting your account, you can contact us through the contact information in Chapter 9 of this Privacy Policy. Talk Parrot will accept and process your request as soon as possible after receiving your feedback, within no more than 15 business days.
6.7 In principle, Talk Parrot does not charge fees for your reasonable requests, but for repeated requests that exceed reasonable limits, Talk Parrot may charge a certain cost as appropriate. Talk Parrot may refuse requests that are gratuitously repetitive, require excessive technical means, pose risks to the lawful rights and interests of others, or are highly impractical.
6.8 We may be unable to respond to your request in the following circumstances:
6.8.1 where related to national security or national defense security;
6.8.2 where related to public safety, public health, or major public interests;
6.8.3 where related to criminal investigation, prosecution, or trial;
6.8.4 where there is evidence that you have subjective malice or are abusing your rights;
6.8.5 where responding to your request would cause serious damage to the lawful rights and interests of other individuals or organizations;
6.8.6 where trade secrets are involved.
7.1 Talk Parrot is an English-learning product for young users, and we attach great importance to the protection of minors' personal information. If you are a minor under 18, you should read this Privacy Policy carefully in the company of and under the guidance of your guardian, and use Talk Parrot's products and/or services only after obtaining your guardian's consent. If you are a child under 14, please have your guardian carefully read this Privacy Policy and the Talk Parrot Children's Personal Information Protection Rules; we will collect and use children's personal information in accordance with those dedicated rules after obtaining the guardian's consent.
7.2 If you/your guardian do not agree with any content of this Privacy Policy, you should immediately stop using our products and/or services.
7.3 If you are a minor's guardian and have any questions about the minor's use of our products and/or services or the user information they provide to us, please contact us promptly. We will protect the confidentiality and security of minors' user information in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations and this Policy. If we find that we have collected a minor's personal information without prior verifiable guardian consent, we will endeavor to delete the relevant data as soon as possible.
8.1 Talk Parrot will revise this Privacy Policy accordingly if the following changes occur in Talk Parrot's products and/or services:
8.1.1 changes in the business features involved, leading to changes in the purpose, type, or method of processing personal information;
8.1.2 material changes in your rights regarding personal-information processing or in how they are exercised;
8.1.3 changes in the contact information of the department responsible for your personal information security;
8.1.4 other changes that may affect users' personal information security or privacy rights.
8.2 After this Privacy Policy is revised, Talk Parrot will publish the latest version on the relevant interfaces of Talk Parrot's products and/or services and notify users by pop-ups, in-app announcements, or other reasonable means, so that users can learn about the latest version in a timely manner.
8.3 Without your express consent, Talk Parrot will not reduce the rights you enjoy under this Privacy Policy.
8.4 Unless otherwise specified, the revised Privacy Policy takes effect on the date of publication.
9.1 If, while using Talk Parrot's products and/or services, you have any questions or suggestions about this Privacy Policy, or you believe your personal information has not been protected as required by this Privacy Policy, you can contact us as follows, and we will sincerely handle your complaints and suggestions.

10.1 For any dispute arising from this Policy or our handling of your personal information, you may file a lawsuit with a people's court of competent jurisdiction.
10.2 If you believe our processing of personal information has harmed your lawful rights and interests, you may also report the matter to the relevant government authorities.
10.3 This Privacy Policy takes effect when Talk Parrot publishes it or provides products and/or services to you. It ceases to be effective when Talk Parrot stops operating or permanently stops providing products and/or services.
